From TF2 Wiki
Upon taunting with The Sandman or The Atomizer equipped, the Scout will point to the sky (a homage to Babe Ruth's famous called shot ) , wind up and let loose with an almighty BONK that launches opponents ridiculous distances. A successful hit will result in the cheers of an invisible crowd. It is necessary to kill someone using the Bonk taunt to gain the Out of the Park achievement. The taunt can still be used during Humiliation and Stalemate to kill members of the enemy team despite the fact that the player models appear to be unarmed.
It is interesting to note that the Bonk has a 5 second wind up time, making it the longest taunt in the game and the longest taunt that can be used to kill, with the Spy's Fencing taunt being the only other one of a comparable length.

All times are in seconds. Times are approximate and determined by community testing.
- The Scout makes no noise until the swing and moment of contact (making a quiet bat swinging sound on a miss and the stun sound along with a crowd cheering on a successful hit). This means that if the enemy does not hear the Scout's approaching footsteps, they have no warning of their possibly impending death and will likely be killed. Originally the Scout used to say something while pointing, but this was quickly patched out after the Scout update.
- The Bonk taunt can be used in conjunction with Bonk! Atomic Punch to devastating effect if performed correctly. By drinking Bonk and then switching to the Sandman with your last weapon key, you can then taunt while invincible and effectively kill someone without taking any damage. However, the switch and taunt has to be done instantaneously, or the duration of Bonk! will end and you will be forced into first person view, cutting off the taunt. This is especially good against enemies pursuing from around corners, or those too distracted to notice your invincibility and try to melee you.
