Featured article criteria

A featured article is a page that is well written, helpful, and conforms to criteria below.

Usefulness

Above all else, the article must be informative and useful to the reader.

The article should be:

  • Informative - The article should contain helpful information.
  • Comprehensive - The article should be complete, without omission of major facts or details.
  • Accurate - The article should be factually accurate, and sourced where appropriate.

Clarity of Writing

A featured article must be easy to follow. This includes being concise, and following the Help:TF2 Wiki style guide.

The article should be:

  • Well-written - The prose of the article is engaging, and of a professional standard.
  • Properly styled - The article follows all conventions in the style guide.
  • Length - The article of appropriate length, staying focused on the main topic without going into unnecessary detail.
  • Stable - The article should not be currently undergoing any major revisions or edit wars.

Introduction

The introduction section must be present on an article for it to be considered a "Featured article". The introduction should provide a brief overview of the article without being too specific (see:TF2 Wiki style guide - Introduction).

Use of Media

Featured articles should use images and videos where appropriate.

Images should be used to:

  • Referential - Images can be used as a source of reference.
  • Clarification - Images can be used to help illustrate a point.
  • Informational - Images can be used to display additional information.

References

Lastly, featured articles should be well connected to the rest of TF2 Wiki, but without over linking articles.

The article should:

  • Link to all other relevant articles
  • Link to reliable outside sources where appropriate
  • Only have a maximum of one link per section to any given article
