Grenades

The only Grenades in TF2 are those wielded by the Demoman with his Grenade launcher, for various reasons.
They were a strong feature of Team Fortress Classic, and were scrapped during the early testing stages of Team Fortress 2. Developers have revealed this choice was due to gameplay concerns with how they were used, such as Spamming, certain potential exploits, and general over-reliance on them as a whole. However, a mod is currently being developed for Team Fortress 2 which enables grenades to be used inside a compatible server. It is currently in development but a video (right) has been posted that demonstrates the abilities of each grenade.
Each class was set to have primary and secondary grenades, with primary grenades being Frag grenades and secondary grenades possessing more specialised functions.
Several grenade types were modelled, some of which were updated versions of those found in Team Fortress Classic and some brand new:
- Bear trap
- Concussion grenade (Scout)
- EMP grenade (Engineer)
- Frag grenade (All Classes)
- Gas grenade (Spy)
- Heal grenade (Medic)
- MIRV grenade (Demoman/Heavy)
- Nail grenade (Soldier)
- Napalm grenade (Pyro)
The grenade models in the game files are untextured, but the modded versions are textured with team colors.
