Interface Control

There is a certain degree of poor design centering around controlling team choice, class selection, the console, team chat, global chat and the game menus. To enter any of these screens requires a single key press. Exiting the screens, however, requires different keypresses or behaviour, depending on the screen.
This is problematic when the player is rushed, because it requires of the player some mental effort to remember the correct behaviour and composed thought doesn't really occur while under fire; if he gets it wrong, and chooses the wrong behaviour, his situation is then worse, because the correct behaviours for each screen do various different things when used on the wrong screen.
The screens in question are;
- Game Menus
- Team/Global chat
- Team choice/Class selection
The Game Menus screen is summoned by hitting escape. It is dismissed by hitting escape. Dismissing this screen does not take you back to the game; it takes you back to which-ever screen you were in when you hit escape.
Team/Global chat are both dismissed with escape key.
Team choice/Class selection screens are not dismissed with the escape key. Hitting escape here brings up the Game Menu screen, and dismissing the Game Menus screen brings you back to the choice/selection screen. These two screens require the Team Choice/Class Choice key to be pressed a second time. Alternatively, you can use the mouse to click cancel.
