Reliable Excavation Demolition is a company supposedly specializing in, as its name states: excavation and demolition, bread production, hydroelectric power and silage among many other things. In reality, RED is merely the front for a major intelligence agency, led by an evil female overlord known only as 'The Announcer'. Beneath the convincing exterior of their bases of operations can be found computer racks, war rooms, satellites, rockets and missile installations.

Shortly after the front company was established, agents at RED discovered that a competing company, Builders League United, was likewise a front for a rival intelligence agency. The two companies began to take hostile action against one another under the cover of territorial disputes and corporate espionage. Specialist teams from either side are constantly employed to steal vital intelligence from one another, as well as capturing key control points, wiping out enemy teams or destroying their bases outright.

RED favours a more rustic style of architecture than BLU, and while its dress code is rather liberal in terms of clothing, it is required that employees dress in red for easy identification.

RED and BLU share a highly unfriendly rivalry. The only official video in which the RED and BLU team communicate is Meet the Sandvich, in which a BLU Soldier and Scout try unsuccessfully to coax the RED Heavy away from their Sandvich stocked refridgerator. In the same video, the BLU Soldier contemptuously refers to the REDs as "you RED team ladies" and claims they don't know the correct way to break a man's spine (they do). So far, no RED team member has been seen to meet or acknowledge their BLU team counterpart.
