There are 9 classes in Team Fortress 2, (10 if you include the Civilian). They are grouped into three types (offensive, defensive, and support), but can actually be played in many ways depending on the strategies used. The classes are as follows:

Notes:
- Every class runs backwards at 90% of their forward speed.
- Exception(s):
- Forward and backward speed are the same while crouched.
- Forward and backward speed are the same while zoomed (sniper) or revving minigun (heavy).
- Exception(s):
- All classes on the victorious side run 10% faster during humiliation.
- Disguising as a slower class will accurately alter a Spy's speed. A Spy cannot run faster by disguising as a Scout.
