Crits Different?
Well, I'm not very sure, because it's been a few weeks since I tried it, but when burning someone from behind the flames look normal but register as crits. Is this true? Supernova
Damage
I saw that CoolDog added damage values that I would estimate as incorrect. Has any community testing been done? If anyone is willing to test with me, send me a message on Steam (check my profile) and I'll fire up achievementbox for us. --Southpaw018 01:01, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- I've done some testing with tf_debug_flamethrower, and updated some pages accordingly. Check Talk:Flamethrower for more info. Codewarrior 11:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Random crits
"The Backburner is still able to have critical hits regularly from the front too (as the Flamethrower)" I will delete this sentence, because the Backburner is NOT able to crit randomly. --GeaR 17:10, 6 July 2008 (MEZ)
Man, you should play TF2 more... I play for 3-4 hours as a Pyro every day and my weapons crits as in these articles... Sentence put back - Kurtis, 6 July 1008
Stand in your resupply and keep firing the backburner. After shooting 200 or more ammo(if you want you can shoot 10 minutes long...), you will see that there is no critical hit and then you will delete this sentence again. Thank you. Btw I played 20 hours pyro the last two weeks and I got never random crits with the Backburner! --GeaR, 8 July 2008
- Adding my vote, I never get crits with backburner unless it's in the back. I usaed to when update arrived, but not since they changed it. --Manta 12:21, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I get random crits with the backburner on a regular basis, streaming from the flame for a second or two just like the flamethrower. --Leon 05:22, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- As do I, and GeaR you're retarded. You can't get a crit rate standing in a spawnroom, like stated even by the TF2 team: you obtain crit's based on how you are playing, and how well to that fact.--MrTwoVideoCards 10:48, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I mostly play pyro, and I don't think I ever get random crits from the backburner, or at least it's very rare. - adulus 28/7/08
With any other weapon (excluding Blutsauger, KK & Healgun and Axtinguisher) you get random crits standing in your resupply. But with Backburner, you don't. --GeaR 22:35, 13 August 2008 (cet)
"The percentage is supposedly affected by how many times the Pyro scores critical hits in the back using the Backburner." source? --Defx 01:32, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
It is quite possible with the finicky hit detection on TF2 (the same that screws up and gives facestabs) a backburner will register a critical hit in the front, but that it shouldn't be happening according to the weapon's code.--Pyrosity 05:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- My experience also shows that the Backburner only crits from behind. Updating the page! Codewarrior 11:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Defining "back"
In some quick testing, it appears that the backburner registers up to approximately a 45 degree angle to the back of someone's left or right. So, roughly a 90 degree angle centered behind where they are facing. This is significantly less than the backstab range, which appeared to be any angle in the 180 degrees behind where a player is looking. Vertical position did not seem to matter; if a player is looking up at the pyro and he is on top of them, slightly to the back of their centerpoint, he will still critical hit them with the backburner (even though they can see him)--Pyrosity 07:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
