Sapping / Backstabbing

"A useful technique that can be employed by a skilled spy is to backstab an engineer and then immediately sap their sentry gun before it is able to kill the spy. However this technique only works when the sentry gun is facing in the other direction."

I've revised this. Backstabbing before sapping is very poor form, since the Spy loses his disguise at the start of the backstab animation. This gives a brief window for the sentry to turn around and shoot you before you can land the backstab and sap the sentry successfully.

Keep in mind that if you're running while you backstab you do the normal attack animation, so if you walk up you can do it more quickly and with less risk to your life.
Remember that a sapped sentry cannot fire. It's a much better idea to sap the sentry first, thereby distracting the Engineer and forcing him to move in to remove the sapper (turning his back to you) and giving you an opportunity to backstab him. -beep 13:38, 6 April 2008 (CDT)
However, most engineers will also keep their back to a wall or jump on top of their sentry while removing the sapper, and only the most inexperienced engineers will be backstabbed in this situation. Unless you are dealing with a very experienced spy, which is very rare. It only takes a little practice to be able to stab then sap. Sarda 05:12, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Facestab

Perhaps we can add the technical details of the Facestab fix. Supposedly there an explanation as to what the fix did in order to solve the facestab, a few people like myself have been wondering this. The Unbeholden 23:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Backstab Icon

We should get the Backstab icon that shows up in the upper right screen and add the image to this article, if anyone knows how to get it please do so. The Unbeholden 21:37, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
