Talk:Clans
From TF2 Wiki

Listing clan names and sites seems irrelevant to this wiki. In fact, letting clans have pages in this wiki seems wasteful and going against the purpose of why people come here. Use the steam community tools and your own bandwidth.Bret 21:51, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- I was surprised to see a list of clans here, since there are undoubtedly lots of clans and I wonder whats the relevance of them being written on the wiki.--Sky 13:55, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- A litte publicity basically. It's not too busy so the bandwitch usage of this here page is pretty negligible.--Wilsonator 14:01, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's a good place to find some clans if you're fairly new to the game, and also it allows new clans to expand quite quickly. altogether a pretty good thing.--Che Roriniho 15:25, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Id add in team FU. The guys from PC Gamer and Max PC. --DontEatRawHagis 03:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'd like to think that Damage Inc. Has a much greater value then most clans to this site in that it is at least trying to provide some fan fiction adding something to the game rather then just being a clan that plays TF2.--Astar 03:19, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- Personally, I'm not sure value is determined by how much fan fiction the clan happens to write.--Wilsonator 13:55, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to say that DI is better then the other clan listed what I ment was in regardes to Bret. That we are adding something to this site not JUST looking for publicity. --Astar 14:48, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Articles need to be rewritten
Most (if not all) of these articles are written in first person with a bias towards the specified clan and against non-members. This is fine for that clan's website but this is a wiki. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by KazooieBanjo (talk) • contribs) 01:58, 13 December 2009
- And as such, you should follow wiki standards, please sign comments on discussion pages (see Help:Discussion or if you like Wikipedia:Signatures).
- We are aware of this fact and have tried to curb various clans. If people do not take a little time to understand and take note of standard conventions, guidelines or good practices which apply to this wiki as well as most other wikis including Wikipedia, it's difficult to police. The clan pages are going to be overhauled soon which will include policies/guidelines for layouts, however these take time to write and implement along with the templates and help pages which are needed to guide people. Once everything has been done, pages that are acceptable will be moved and pages that aren't, deleted. So fair warning to people who have wrote Clan pages, if you do not rewrite them to follow standard wiki guidelines and our own TF2 Wiki style guide, do not be surprised if your pages are deleted. I didn't want to go down this route but I've tried contacting several clans via there own forums or message boards without any feedback at all. If you have a cleanup template on your page, you should be doing just that, or at least asking about what needs changing. --

- My apologies. The signature is usually the last piece of a comment and that Save Page button is just so shiny. --KazooieBanjo 06:26, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
