Talk:Demoman
From TF2 Wiki
Any limit on number of critical stickies can be down at a given time? Was pondering the idea of exploding stickies when getting zero or one critical when eight are laid down. Kind of like rerolling. Possibly useful when setting up on defense. --NeoLypse 14:38, 20 November 2007 (CST)
- I doubt it, but in order to get stickies to all be crits, you'd have to blow up the previous ones. That is to say the need to be in a row. The only way to achieve this would be to drive your crit rate up (via killing multiple people in a short time period). It's really not worth it as the chance to get more than one sticky in a row using the base crit rate (5%) would be something on the order of 0.25% --WanderingFox 17:35, 20 November 2007 (CST)
- There is no limit, tested with the Kritzkrieg. 8/8 stickies as crits. --Raskolnikov 16:24, 4 May 2008 (CDT)
Added strategical map for demoman sticky/nade placement on dustbowl. If there's a better way to display it feel free or let me know.--NeoLypse 14:00, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Demoman Taunt
- Ok he's not saying "kaboom", I thought he was saying "hap-py" which works with the little happy face, but he's not saying that either. I think it's something in Gaelic. It sounds like "cap-bean!". Any Scotties out there? Eddycurrents 07:17, 5 January 2008 (CST)
- Sounds like 'ka-bim' to me. --Joffeloff 11:36, 5 January 2008 (CST)
- He is saying "Kaboom", besides it wouldn't make sense as anything else. --Aurora 13:40, 5 January 2008 (CST)
- Well actually a lot of things could make sense. Why kaboom when he is showing off his crotch and a happy face? Something to do with the crotch or the face makes more sense. Besides there is definitely an "ee" sound there. It's probably something Gaelic. The medic says stuff in German and the heavy says stuff in Russian. Eddycurrents 10:09, 7 January 2008 (CST)

- The animation doesn't have to show what he's saying. I've just checked it and to me there's no doubt whatsoever that it's "kaboom", where you get the "ee" from I don't know. It isn't a very think Scottish accent (and not particularly correct, I guess the actor wasn't hired specifically for the Demoman). If anyone wants to check it, it is in - team fortress 2 content.gcf > root > tf > sound > vo > demoman_specialcompleted11.wav on the PC version. This was handy though because I've found the "Prancin' aboot with your heads full of eyeballs" taunts :P. --Aurora 15:37, 7 January 2008 (CST)
- The Scottish accent typically adds long e sounds to words... great turning into greet, etc. This is exactly what you're hearing in the taunt, thus making it sound like kabeem rather than kaboom. -- WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 17:12, 7 January 2008 (CST)
- Ok I checked with a Scottish relative, and here's what he said: "That’s definitely ‘Ka-boom!’ in a broad central belt Scottish accent! To my (finely-tuned) Celtic-bred ears the sound is ka – buw – ham. There’s an extra syllable added by the accent, a bit like when some Notts people say Boo–ats for Boots. Aberdonians – now they’re a different kettle of fish. Quite amusing to hear them pronounce ‘Hailstones’ as ‘Heel Steens’!" So there ya go. And I am hearing it now. I can't figure in the happy face though. Eddycurrents 21:03, 8 January 2008 (CST)
- Uh yeah, I'm Scottish, and he definately says "KABOOOOOM". What I find funny is that so many people mistaken what he's saying for other things, such as "KILL 'EM AWL", which many people seem to think is something completely different. Of course, I cant blame anyone for getting his speech wrong. The way we Scottish talk can be pretty difficult to understand if your not from here, which is the reason why I never play with a mic. :P AAAAAARRRRR 05:25, 16 February 2008 (CST)
- It's the accent, like "ka-boom!" P.S. the guy above is right. Doublepizza 10:44, 29 July 2008 (CST)
AoE on Explosions of Stickies?
Has anyone done any testing in reference to how big the explosion is from the Sticky Grenades? Is it the same size as the Rockets from the Soldier? I don't think their damage reduces with distance like the rockets, but I am curious on the Area of Effect of their damage. --Jewbat
- Rocket damage lessens with distance? I didn't know that. --NiteCyper 23:29, 7 April 2008 (CDT)
- I think thats a good idea. The explosion range and damage of the range for the soldiers rockets is listed, for both critical hits and self damage. So I think its only fair that is should be tested for both grenade launcher and sticky grenade launcher. The Unbeholden 08:24, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Can we update / remove this image? Although the average TF2 player probably knows that stickies don't actually stick to players, it's misleading and unnecessary to have there. -beep 14:49, 7 April 2008 (CDT)
On a slightly comedic note...
Your velocity that you gain from bombs is equal to the force of the bombs(as in, per bomb) you can survive without gibbing. As an example, turn on buddha mode (type in buddha while sv_cheats is enabled) and lay several stickies close together. The force that propels you is equal to two stickies. --Raskolnikov 16:24, 4 May 2008 (CDT)
Demoman grenades
The demoman's grenades now do not explode on impact if they they bounce. If you wish to attack a sentry turret, you may still bounce grenades off a wall, but it won't explode right away and will have to wait for the timed explosion. Theknightoftheword 06:26, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Demoman's bottle
I am not sure exactly if this works but, if you smack the bottle against the wall and crack it, it does more damage. I always have tried the bottle cracked, it did more damage. Theknightoftheword 06:29, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes its the bottles critical hit animation, refered to as "broken bottle crit" The Unbeholden 16:20, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Demoman Concept Art
Has anyone checked out the Team Fortress 2 official website?[1] They have many concept art images that would be good for the wiki. They also have a good amount of back story for the Demoman, and even some about how they came up with the character. Enth 15:12, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
