Let's improve it

Well... it's not the best, I'm a little limited on time at the moment. You guys can make your edits. So, let me tell you about what should be in here right now. The intro tells us about the article itself (no surprises there). Skills is about what a player needs to succeed. General strategies contains links to general strategy pages. Class Specific Strategies needs some work. But this is where you put special class strategies. Speciality v. Versatility is the difference b/w choosing to be the best at one or two classes or being proficient at more than 2. I've been thinking on that issue for a while and it'll be tough to talk about that. Please edit this article.--CountDOODOO 05:39, 14 March 2008 (CDT)

ive tried to explain speciality / versatility what do you think ?--mark"d"davis 08:33, 14 March 2008 (CDT)
You did a great job expanding it so far. I know there's something missing in it, but i just can't put my finger on it. I'll work on it soon.--CountDOODOO 14:43, 14 March 2008 (CDT)
I really love this article the most. I believe we can really work on it to the point where it could easily beat the dispenser as a featured article. i found a few sites on how to improve your game. It's this tripod site and this wikihow article. you guys should give it a look-see and try to add anything from there onto this article.--CountDOODOO 07:41, 18 March 2008 (CDT)

Title Discussion

I do not really think the title fits. Rather use something like Team-Play Strategy. Oh well.

we can always move the article to another place such as Team play. --mark"d"davis 08:31, 14 March 2008 (CDT)
Don't forget to use your signature guys. But anyways, I was hoping this article would be used to pretty much compile everything needed to be a good player. Being a good team player also means you must be a good player by your self. MAybe I should've called it "How to be a good player". If you have any ideas, please post them.--CountDOODOO 14:43, 14 March 2008 (CDT)
Anyone have any ideas on what the title of the article should be? I'm thinking of moving it.--CountDOODOO 00:40, 16 March 2008 (CDT)
I think what Mark said, to align with other startegy guides it should be 'Team strategy' or 'Team-play strategy', although I prefer the former. --Aurora 03:08, 17 March 2008 (CDT)
The problem is that I added things that really aren't about Team Strategy. Some of it is about how to improve your own game. What do you guys think we should do about that stuff? Should we delete it all? Move it to another page? What should that other page be called?--CountDOODOO 05:33, 17 March 2008 (CDT)
Team strategy, the stuff about improving your game can stay see my upcoming edit for reasons why .....--mark"d"davis 05:43, 17 March 2008 (CDT)

Wheres this going?

Ok, I was fine with this article until the last few days where it's got totally out of control. I think this needs reviewing and someone deciding what it's intended aim is and just stick to that. 'Controlling your emotions' and 'Avoid Predictability' are nothing to do with team play at all, it's way too broad now to be considered a wiki article, it's more like an essay on 'How to play computer games'. Can someone decide what this article is about please. --Aurora 10:33, 18 March 2008 (CDT)

Good points my immediate thoughts are

4 A Solid Connection (remove) 5 The Sound of Music (remove) 7 Controlling your emotions (edit to reflect TF2 revenge and domination more) 8 Avoid Predictability (edit to be more in line with TF2 play) 14 Drills, Practices, and Mistakes (expand and make more TF2) --mark"d"davis 10:41, 18 March 2008 (CDT)

IMO, we just need to fix the title. We could split the article. The stuff about Team Strategy could be moved to a separate article called Team Strategy. The other stuff on how to be a good player could be moved to another article and given its appropriate name. I personally love this article and I don't want to see any of it removed. I don't mind it moved but removed would make me sad. Most of it is excellent knowledge on how to be a good gamer. Oh and note to Aurora: Computer games? Some of us here (*points to self*) play TF2 on the consoles so its not just a computer game.--CountDOODOO 13:37, 18 March 2008 (CDT)
com·put·er [n.]
A device that computes, especially a programmable electronic machine that performs high-speed mathematical or logical operations or that assembles, stores, correlates, or otherwise processes information.
Note I said 'computer games' not, 'personal computer games'. A console is still a computing device and in essence a computer, even if the type is now termed a 'console'.
All I'm saying is keep articles to a given subject, which this article now isn't, as you said yourself it is more like a "how to be a good gamer". Such a broad article is bound to be subjective, have no neutral point of view, and be difficult to categorize or inter-link (which is currently my problem - where does it go?). --Aurora 06:10, 19 March 2008 (CDT)
I see your point now Aurora. It can get really subjective and I don't really want that. But what do you mean by a neutral point of view? Do you know of any ways to make an article neutral? Also, I understand its a little...messy right now but if we work on it I'm sure we can make it a great article.--CountDOODOO 12:24, 19 March 2008 (CDT)
Granted a 'neutral point of view' is a bit of a facetious remark considering we don't have one. All Wikipedia articles have to have a NPOV, but as we couldn't possibly do this on the TF2 wiki and still have things like tactics it's a mute point. It's basically the same thing as being non-subjective. I'm also not saying "remove the crap", I would agree with you that it is useful information. Having it all on one article is my issue with it, you could (as you said) split it over a few articles and link them as related articles; but ever article should be on one subject only. So, if it is going to be about 'Team strategy', 'Practice guide', 'Connection guide', 'Unpredictability' or whatever - stick to just that (or at least have a very general section with a Main article link), other articles can be written and linked back. Oh also, I'm not liking the use of SAS (are they still around?) or an specific clan as an example picture, they might get upset or it may be seen as favoritism. --Aurora 13:51, 19 March 2008 (CDT)
The splitting idea seems the most logical right now. This article is great but I can see it getting way to large. But I don't know exactly how to break it up. If we split each section into each having its own individual article, then those new articles will be quite small. We'll need to work on them significantly IMO. The only article I'm confident won't be too small is the Controlling Your Emotions section. Perhaps if we change our current title (How to be a team player) to "TF2 Player Guide" we can keep this great article and have links to other pages. We keep all the stuff here but we shorten it and make internal links to articles of that same section. So the section about "Controlling your Emotions" will be shortened dramatically to the basics and then there'll be a link to the main article for that. Also I was planning on putting this article eventually in the General Topics page if that'll work. What do you think of my ideas so far?--CountDOODOO 14:30, 19 March 2008 (CDT)
agreed on the clan thing ill change the picture to show the score line without the names. --mark"d"davis 04:42, 20 March 2008 (CDT)
I am planning on making two new articles and putting this one up for deletion. One will be called "Team strategy" and will contain all the sections that involve Team tactics and strategy on this page. Another will be called "Personal tips" and will contain everything about personal help such as controlling your emotions, communication, and drilling/practicing. You are still free to edit this article. What do you guys think? If you don't respond by Saturday, then I will go ahead and make the articles.--CountDOODOO 16:40, 20 March 2008 (CDT)
