Not Done?
See no ones attempted this one yet--Markd 00:42, 26 November 2007 (CST)
- That would probably be due to the fact that Hydro has multiple seperate areas (similar to dustbowl/gravelpit), but also has 2-3 different exit paths per area. The amount of work involved in getting screenshots and describing all of the possible routes is rather daunting :P -- WanderingFox 13:13, 26 November 2007 (CST)
- If we get a screen of the map then each area should do some photoshop and add in designations for each Area. I suggest a simple ABCD approach.
And for specifc matches A-D C-B or if its a base assualt you could just say Blue/red Base. DontEatRawHagis 10:18, 3 December 2007 (CST)
- Actually you can't in most situations. All of the points can be initially held by either team, with the exception of the last point on each map. -- WanderingFox 10:24, 3 December 2007 (CST)
Territory naming convention
The latest episode of Control Point podcast suggests these names which
- Generator ("turbine") room: Blu initially owns, interior, generator machinery on the floor, CP on a catwalk above the generators
- Dam ("standing water CP"): Red initially owns, CP on platform on a field of standing water, large dam visible in the area
- Warehouse (aka "bridge with the shack"): Blu initially owns, CP on a small bridge with adjacent security shack that contains items
- Dish ("radar dish"): Red initially owns, CP in very small chamber over giant dish which dominates the area
- Red / Blu Base: There is a Red Base and a Blu Base that represent the final CPs in Hydro to capture to win the map. The two Bases are unique.
What does the community think? I cannot recall if they ever call the Generator point the "Turbine" room. It's a semantic choice--I think "generator" would be more appropriate because that's the component we see in the room (the turbines are the stuff in the penstock getting spun by the water), but "turbine" has fewer syllables.
The connecting paths already have suggested names in the article. In addition to any proposed modifications of the terms for the connecting paths, should we group them by X vs. Y combinations (like Dam vs. Dish) to make the article easier to read and provide a foundation for pertinent screenshots?--Wipnum 21:32, 14 February 2008 (CST)
- I personally think the best thing to do is fill them in with everything you have above (I'm happy with all those, including using the generator room rather than turbine) and then if people use different references, they can be amended. This is usually what happens with naming conventions on all the map articles, including 2fort's (now infamous) "Upstairs Lobby". I like the idea of having X vs. Y as well, I agree it would be easier to understand. Good work. --Aurora 11:58, 14 February 2008 (CST)
- Fine by me, but I just got done writing the whole article, so I'm not going to edit them now. Maybe later :P --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 21:40, 14 February 2008 (CST)
