Talk:Kill assist
From TF2 Wiki
The info here is to the best of my knowledge. I'm still not sure how it works out for certain situations, e.g., wounding an enemy who is then healed back to full health. Any additional info would be appreciated. 404notfound 03:10, 20 October 2007 (CDT)
If an engineer's sentry kills someone, does the engineer get points? What about if someone's being healed by a dispenser? Tdooner 21:48, 26 November 2007 (CST)
- Sentry counts as the engineer for all intensive purposes, though if an engineer helps his sentry kill something he only gets 1 point (or 2 assists). As far I know dispensers do not function as medics do for generating assists, but they may generate points based on healing. -- WanderingFox 22:38, 26 November 2007 (CST)
- Well basically kill assists is when your in the position of killing some one and someone else helps you. For an example a pyro burning a spy, the spy doesn't die install so if a soldier shoots the rocket at the spy on fire the one who did the most damage gets the kill, the other one gets the assist for helping them. Am I suppose to create a page about this?
Needs a picture
I think this article is kinda small it needs a picture of what a kill assist looks like IMO.--CountDOODOO 07:42, 29 January 2008 (CST)
- I like the picture that the guy uploaded (Assist Ubercharge kill pic) but maybe we can find something better. Like Two people on screen hurting an enemy at the same time. Two Pyro's flaming a Spy. Two Soldiers shooting rockets at a Heavy. A Medic and Demoman. You get the idea. The pic that was recently uploaded is good but it feels more like it belongs in the Ubercharged article than anything else. So let's try to find something a little better (IMO). Also, in the recent kills section of the HUD, you can see an assist kill because it'd say something like CountDOODOO + WanderingFox Backstabbed 404notfound. I'd like to get a pic of those words together that show that the people just got an assist kill.--CountDOODOO 19:02, 8 February 2008 (CST)
- Yeah I agree, that picture is more descriptive of an Ubercharge or domination (icon above Medic) than an Assist. It's quite hard to describe an assist in picture form but I would say CountDOODOO is right, the kill icon needs to be included which is probably the most descriptive visual part of the assist. --Aurora 12:35, 11 February 2008 (CST)
- I uploaded a very poor image but I hope it's the right idea. Please see image:Assist_demo.jpg.--Wipnum 21:15, 19 February 2008 (CST)
- Looks good. It's much better than the Heavy kill assist but I don't like how the icon for the kill assist is way down at the bottom. Any chance you could move that icon into the second picture. I think once you do that, it should be fine.--CountDOODOO 23:32, 19 February 2008 (CST)
- Took your advice and improved image. Also wrote a few words about it. Please let me know if anything about it is inappropriate and please edit for style conventions / whatever else if necessary (not sure about capitalization and use of bold). Thanks. --Wipnum 00:55, 20 February 2008 (CST)
- I like it a lot better now. But is there anyway you can use photoshop to eliminate the words "Fail Medic '08 [CP-BSOD]" and replace it with something else. Maybe with "Killer" instead. It just might confuse people to see the words Medic on there when there wasn't any medic pictured.--CountDOODOO 10:24, 20 February 2008 (CST)
- Used "Killer" for the Demoman and redid the screenshots, which was cool because I remembered a much easier (SMALLER!) map to get bots into position: Duel_Duel1. Thanks, CP Podcast. Think it's a better shot?--Wipnum 07:45, 21 February 2008 (CST)
On a side note, should it say that the demoman is awarded the kill because he dealt the killing blow (i.e. he did took off the last health), but not necessarily the most damage. I will a comment to the page so someone can change it if they feel it necessary. Humbug 21:15, 15 April 2008 (CDT)
