Comment on three-points of anti-Sentry Gun strategy

"Finally, a difficult but satisfying trick is to take advantage of the fact that Engineers take damage from the gunfire of their own Sentry Gun. Stand so the Engineer is between his Sentry Gun and you and uncloak. You will die, but hopefully so will the Engineer. This is useful if the Engineer is in a position where you simply can't backstab him."

This doesn't make sense because if you can't backstab the Engineer, that means you can't get behind him, and thus, cannot put the Engineer between his Sentry Gun and yourself. I know that the Engineer does take damage from his own gun, but I'm not sure in what situations doing this as a Spy could work. FiberOptix 17:33, 14 January 2008 (CST)

If the Enginner has a setup that has placed the Dispencer behind him so he is wedged in between the SG and Dispenser, you cant get an angle to backstab him. You can however crouch behind the Dispneser, uncloack, and edge round the Dispenser to trigger the SG and catch the Engineer in the crossfire. --Aurora 08:18, 15 January 2008 (CST)

EDIT ADD: Sorry, but also noticed this statement under the second point of "Infiltration": Also it is very obvious when a Demoman is using a cloak.. I don't know what that statement is trying to get at, but it's very obvious when almost any class is using a cloak. Also I think some of these strategies are actually key Spy points that belong on the Spy main page, such as the information regarding what your health looks like. I agree with the first point, and with the regards to the second; if you feel this is the case, move the text. This is a wiki and allows anyone (as long as they have an account) to edit the text. Just make sure you add a note explaining why the text was moved in the comments within edit mode.--Aurora 08:18, 15 January 2008 (CST)

EDIT ADD 2: Okay, last edit (for now) regarding the fourth point under "Infiltration": "When the Spy activates a disguise, his health level will appear to the enemy as exactly 50%, regardless of his actual health. His health level will not appear to go down if they shoot him, but will appear to go up if they heal him. This feature is a double-edged sword; The idea is that it looks less suspicious when a spy runs into the enemy base calling for a Medic (since he's injured), but the more observant players that know of this feature will often be wary of anyone who appears to have exactly 50% health, and may be more likely to pursue and spy-test him.". This is not true. Disguised spies actually often have the appearance of 100% health. I have seen this myself as an Engineer and as a Spy (when I'm spying on their spies in their base). Also, an opponent disguised Spy's apparent health does not go down when you're shooting at him until they're completely dead and undisguised. There are situations when the health appears less, and thus can call for medic for healing, though I'm not sure when those situations occur. FiberOptix 18:09, 14 January 2008 (CST)

The Spy can be healed by an enemy Medic, if he does this the health meter will show the healed amount and thus higher than 50%. I haven't seen a Spy with less than 50% though so can't comment on the latter part of the question. --Aurora 08:18, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Dustbowl

"Before Stage 1 Cap 1 is taken, you can quickly run to the enemies Control point 2. Although this is locked, if you're team is close to taking it then it would be a good idea to stay here and base camp. Although this is discouraged due to the fact that this is camping, it can help end the stage faster and the enemies will most likely not make it in time to stop you. This also works on Stage 2 and 3."

So basically what this says is that camping AND winning is what the game is about? AAAAAARRRRR 20:00, 21 February 2008 (CST)

It's just phrased REALLY poorly. It's a legitimate tactic. The spy simply bypasses the enemy lines, and waits to take the second point while the enemy defends the first point. It rarely works due to the randomness of respawn times (someone typically will respawn on top of the spy and kill him before he finishes capping). --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 21:49, 21 February 2008 (CST)
There is a big difference between camping, just for kills, and defending the next spot (Offensive or not) so that your team can win... --Jewbat 21:57, 21 February 2008 (CST)

Sentry Tactics

I was going to add nick names to the spy sentry strategies,

Sap "n" Stab

Stab "n" Sap

Shoot "n" Sap

Sap "n" Shoot

Is this OK? or is it a bit pointless,
