Are we going to get an updated front page then Mr Feature article editor? :p --Aurora 15:59, 28 December 2007 (CST)

Sorry my computer asploded shortly after Christmas and it's taken me a while to reformat and get back up to speed :P -- WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 14:49, 3 January 2008 (CST)
Lol, never mind, I presumed something like that or you'd gone on holiday. Happy new year anyway...new target is 1 million page views, and we should be there soon ;) --Aurora 14:53, 3 January 2008 (CST)

Well CTF

Adding the Well CTF to the Main page has extended the width of the table too much so it now doesn't fit on a 1024 screen. We have two solutions to this which I wanted to run past you:

  1. Reduce the size of the map pictures to fit
  2. Only have one "Well" which links to one of the articles, say CP as most common, and on that article - do what 'pedia do and at the top add something along the lines of This articles relates to CP Well, please see the CTF Well article for the CTF variant.

What do you reckon? --Aurora 14:19, 28 January 2008 (CST)

I think the only solution is to reduce the map sizes. In the coming months we're going to have to add quite a bit of information to the main page. There's at least two new maps other than Well CTF (Badlands and Goldrush), the new escort gametype, the new class achievements, and the new loadout items. The last two, at least, could go as smaller links underneath each class name. --Southpaw018 17:38, 28 January 2008 (CST)
The new map's are a valid point, I'll have another think about how best to lay the map icons out. The rest are just normal amendments or additional articles though so won't need adding to the Main page, except as "New articles" or "General Topics" that is (which won't cause issues with layout - those sections can grow as much as is needed). --Aurora 19:31, 28 January 2008 (CST)
I already reduced the size of the imagemaps that linked to the map icons by 10, which should have been almost enough. If you reduce them all by another 5 or so (dropping the image width to 85) CTF_Well should fit. Though the additional maps coming may pose a problem. Perhaps adding a second row, or simply linking to a page with all the maps listed would be a better idea. Thoughts? --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 11:52, 29 January 2008 (CST)
Yeah, I don't think we can get away with reducing the size any more because of the new maps as Southpaw mentioned. I like the idea of having the map images on the front page though, it's kinda eye catching. I think the only solution maybe to go to two lines, I'll have to play with it because I suspect having two lines will increase the area too much that it will no longer line up. I might have to redo the layout of the front page completely so I will think about it for a few days and try a few different layouts. Some mockups might be a good idea, which I'll post on my website for people to choose (when I get time). Unless you want to give it a go? ;) --Aurora 09:36, 31 January 2008 (CST)
I'd rather not tread all over your work :P It shouldn't be hard to add a second line however. I don't think we ever have solid height levels set (just widths). --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 11:44, 31 January 2008 (CST)
I got bored, let me know what you think :P --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 16:04, 14 February 2008 (CST)

Page Protection

Yourself and Aurora now have "protect" permissions. You can protect and unprotect pages as you see fit. If you think others should have the permission, please let me know. --Nos 08:56, 12 February 2008 (CST)

will do :P --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 12:20, 12 February 2008 (CST)

My templates

Opps, sorry about causing any problems. I just copied the source from templates I use somewhat regularly on other wikis. - 22:36, 12 February 2008 (CST)

No worries, we've just got specific formatting for things. Check out the help pages and other templates for how we've got stuff set up. Thanks for contributing though ^_^ --WanderingFox (Talk • Contribs) 22:38, 12 February 2008 (CST)

Image licensing

Hello fellow TF2 Wiki editors. If you read this message before, forget what I wrote. I've just completed all the license templates and while doing research I found the Mediawiki software has a built in license function so there's no need for you to bother typing all the gunk in. You can now select the license when uploading images (however it's not enforced). I've also been digging through legal documents and found that in the Canadian Copyright Act a 'fair dealing' policy exists (similar to the UK fair dealing policy, a bit like the US 'fair use' policy but not as flexible) which can probably be used for all screenshots from TF2 (although I'm no legal expert so should anything go to court - it wasn't me, nobody saw me do it).

Thanks, --Aurora 16:04, 10 March 2008 (CDT) [updated --Aurora 21:16, 10 March 2008 (CDT)]
