Soundtrack
Top idea, it's a fantastic soundtrack. Just one thing, create subpages for the tracks like "Soundtrack/Main Theme" rather than individual pages for each song. --Aurora 10:45, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Ok sure thing, but how do I create a subpage out of curiosity? --Wilsonator 10:46, 5 December 2007 (CST)
- Same way you create pages just add a new article called "Soundtrack/Main Theme", as long as there is a / in there it will be classed as a subpage. It's not common because usually pages are seperate articles (even if they are linked to another in some way like engineer and buildings, you should still have seperate pages) but when something is intrinsically linked like this (song of a soundtrack) it's a candidate. --Aurora 10:52, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Images have revisions too.
I've seen you upload replacement screenshots of things recently, but use a different file name. Images are exactly like articles, and you can 'revise' them by going to the old image, and clicking 'upload a new version.'
Wasn't sure if you knew that or not, but in case you didn't, now you do :P If you were uploading them under a different name to preserve the original screenshot, that's fine, I just wanted to make sure you knew ^_^ -- WanderingFox 09:10, 6 December 2007 (CST)
- Ah woops, I didn't know about that. Thanks for telling me though, i'll bear that in mind in future. --Wilsonator 09:16, 6 December 2007 (CST)
Question re:pic
Wilsonator, could you let me know where you got that "Anatomy of a Heavy" pic? Do you have a higher res version? WiNGSPANTT 09:30, 18 December 2007 (CST)
- I found it in an interview about TF2 with CGSociety, found here from which I also found a ton of other high res pictures including the elusive high res version of the 'class' picture. Unfortunately that was the highest res they had of that particular image.
One answer, a few questions
Not sure what confuses you about the Head of the Class? If you play a full game with each class you earn it. Also while I'm at it, do you create the videos you post like the Baseball one? The reason I ask is that I have a demo and can make a video from it, that’s not a problem, but I get jerky camera movement. I know it's not the framerate because player animations are smooth, its only my player movements. I'm wondering if this is anything to do with the server tick rate? I've also tried smoothing the demo with the internal Smoother, which does work to a point but I still get camera jerks when the camera pans round. Any help would be appreciated. --Aurora 09:44, 3 January 2008 (CST)
- As far as head of the class goes, does it mean you have to play eight entire games without switching your class, every play every class for one game? I'm not sure specifically what you do here.
-and I don't make the videos, they're suitable vids I found on youtube so i'm not sure what you should do about editing, sorry.--Wilsonator 09:56, 3 January 2008 (CST)
- Oh right fair enough, I will keep trying a few things and dig around on forums. Head of the Class just means that you have played 1 full game, with each of the classes. You can play a full game with every class except the sniper and a few weeks later, play a full game with the sniper and still acheive the award. However if you spawn as and Engineer, play half a game, then spawn as the Sniper and play the rest, you will not acheive it. You do not have to play every map though, you can play 2fort all night with different classes as long as you play the entire game(round). Not sure if thats any clearer for you? --Aurora 10:06, 3 January 2008 (CST)
Know Your Enemy 101
Wilsonator, can i ask you from where did you got those Know Your Enemy pictures ? I thought it would be great to put them in one page and make like a guide full of pics.. --The_Scorpion 04:05, 4 February 2008 (CST)
- I made them myself in flash actually, so there aren't any other than the ones i've done so far. --Wilsonator 04:54, 4 February 2008 (CST)
Oh, ok, do you mind if i try to make some :P (Just tell me from where did you got the original images) ? --The_Scorpion 05:33, 4 February 2008 (CST)
- I don't mind at all, as long as we can keep the design consistent. I have a sort of 'template' of silhouettes that I use, mostly referenced from official art and screenshots. I'll see what I can do about sending it to you later.--Wilsonator 07:39, 4 February 2008 (CST)
Ok, thx a lot man :D --The_Scorpion 08:03, 4 February 2008 (CST)
Height/weight info
Hello, Wilsonator. There's been some discussion as to the origin of the height/weight numbers in the character bios. You appear to be the one who added them on December 6. Could you go to the Classes discussion page at the end of the "Hero" section and let us know where the numbers came from? --Southpaw018 15:29, 24 February 2008 (CST)
Escalated Privileges
You have been suggested as someone I should consider giving some escalated privileges to. Right now, if you look at Administrators you'll see the kind of permission we have. I'll remain the only "sysop" at least fo the time being. Are you interested? Please swing by my talk page and let me know either way in the Escalated Privilege Candidate Responses section. Thanks. --Nos 10:37, 4 March 2008
Image licensing
Hello fellow TF2 Wiki editors. If you read this message before, forget what I wrote. I've just completed all the license templates and while doing research I found the Mediawiki software has a built in license function so there's no need for you to bother typing all the gunk in. You can now select the license when uploading images (however it's not enforced). I've also been digging through legal documents and found that in the Canadian Copyright Act a 'fair dealing' policy exists (similar to the UK fair dealing policy, a bit like the US 'fair use' policy but not as flexible) which can probably be used for all screenshots from TF2 (although I'm no legal expert so should anything go to court - it wasn't me, nobody saw me do it).
Thanks, --Aurora 16:06, 10 March 2008 (CDT) [updated --Aurora 21:18, 10 March 2008 (CDT)]
Mailing List
Finally setup an admin mailing list... sign up here: http://mailman.tf2wiki.net/mailman/listinfo/wikiadmins/ Please put your Wiki user name in the name field somewhere. For example, I did "Andrew Kerr (Nos)". --Nos 19:08, 11 March 2008 (CST)
Bio Deletions
The reason most of the bio stuff was deleted was because we are trying to sort out what is cannon and what isn't. Unless you can find proof from a Valve interview or from in-game, we can't include it. So for the Sniper's hometown, we don't really know if he was from Sydney, AU. We know he's from Australia but not Sydney because he says "I'm a dickin' Aussi, not some bloody cartoon!" in one of his responses. See Include Hero for our discussion on it.--TFT Magic Kukri 14:48, 25 March 2008 (CDT)
Solved the stray </imagemap> in main page
See here for answer. --WhiteKnight 15:28, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks mate! Very much appreciated =D--Wilsonator 16:36, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
CP_Steel image
You should try this for main page
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/screens/54183?img=http://image.hazardstrip.com/ss/maps/120029.jpg
- Thanks but I already just resized the regular one. The one you gave would work but i'd have to remove the watermark stuff which would just throw off the dimensions again but thanks anyway.--Wilsonator 06:16, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Preview
Be sure to use the Show preview button, that way you wont create many different versions of the same file. Cheers! --Defx 23:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I am a moderator y'know, if I didn't know that- there'd be trouble. =P Problem is that sometimes I notice little things that need editing after I fix something else. =P--Wilsonator 23:16, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oops! Lets pretend I never said that! --Defx 01:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Question: Is this you?
I was looking for the orchestral PS2 tracks for Deus Ex, and Lo and Behold I saw "TheWilsonator" and thought it looked bizarrely similar to that TF2 wiki user. (I blame overactive dedrites.) So to check whether my long-shot hunch is right, were you the same guy who posted [1]? --Terr 09:02, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's me! ;) --Wilsonator 09:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's oddly gratifying. I'm NOT going crazy... much. I'm trying to see if I can rip the orchestral version etc. from the PS2 ISO... --Terr 18:28, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Redirect
I was wondering how do you make a page redirect to another? Also since you changed the bone saw to its proper name Bonesaw I want to change the name of the Sticky Grenade Launcher to its proper name, Stickybomb Launcher. The Unbeholden 07:49, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- You have the change the page text to '#REDIRECT [x2page link here]x2 Also, go ahead with the names--Wilsonator 13:45, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have 4 more weapons to change names. Flame Thrower are two seperate words, meaning there should be a space in between. submachine gun is actually called the SMG, no spaces all 3 letters together, capital letters. Medi Gun are two seperate words as well, and the butterfly knife is called just Knife. one word. these 4 weapons could use their correct names if you don't mind? The Unbeholden 11:57, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Woah there, some of those aren't wrong:
Flamethrower is official (No spaces ever, not in valve stats, the blog or in the dictionary): http://www.teamfortress.com/images/posts/flamethrower_blue.jpg
Medigun (No space) is official: http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=1656
SMG is an acronym so the unshortened Sub-machine gun would be right (they have SMG in brackets after the bold name on the weapon page) so I think we should leave that be too
The knife on the other hand is never officially referred to as a 'butterfly knife', so feel free to change instances of it. Just make a note on the article that it is sometimes known as the butterfly knife as well as a balisong.--Wilsonator 13:34, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- according to the weapon capitalization rule, why do the articles everywhere have the Electro Sapper with two capital letters? The Unbeholden 21:06, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have no idea. If you want to change it, go ahead.--Wilsonator 22:24, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just curious. Is Electro sapper its official name? does it have one? I always thought it was just called the Sapper? The Unbeholden 22:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Dudey
As a long time wiki editor you should know not to make changes unless properly discussed. Everyone agrees its Beauty, you don't, enough already. Sounds like a B to me... why would he say something like dudey? he says mate, when he calls a friend, which means he doesn't use the word Dudey. ENOUGH ALREADY.. its a New south wales saying, the Sniper is from the Northern Territory. The Unbeholden 22:54, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Listen to it in the game files with the volume turned up. You'd have to be deaf to think it's a B.--Wilsonator 22:57, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have, volume turned up. l really don't think where listening to the same sound file.... You need to stop listening to it over and over again, cause your starting to hear something else... your starting to hear what you want to hear, not what it actually sounds like The Unbeholden 22:58, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not saying it has to be 'dudey', but whatever it is, it starts with a D sound. Also, the word is 'deaf'.--Wilsonator 23:00, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, though beauty is the only thing that makes sense if not dudey. Maybe the sound file cuts off part of the first syllable.--Wilsonator 23:04, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I always thought he said "Duty", when used in "excrement" terms or something else. Then again, I've been wrong before. -Gentleman
Bot_Teleport
Im trying to teleport a bot to a specific place on ctf_2fort, the place in question is at the opposite wall of the main resupply door on the upper level of 2fort. I want to test out medium range damage like it says so in the wiki gun articles, i want make sure the damage values are correct, I don't have another computer so I just use the bot_teleport command, if you can tell me the coordinates (there's 6 different numbers) That would be greatly appreciated. Ow yes and to see how much damage I do I type net_showevents 2, what ever damage is done comes up in the console in case you where wondering (and I already know how to add bots). The Unbeholden 06:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- ah don't worry i found the coordinate, I joined red team, used the "bot -team blue -class heavyweapons -name Fatty" command, then used the "bot_teleport Fatty -190 -1400 300 0 0 0" on the ctf_2fort map, then I went Heavy and tested out the damage values of Sasha and Natascha at that range, checked the damage per shot using the "net_showevents 2" command. I got some interesting results. everytime i ran out of ammo I type "impulse 101" to get my ammo back, to get there fast I used the "noclip" command, and obviously used the "sv_cheats 1" command straight after starting the map. The Unbeholden 06:44, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Recent Fact
I checked the "Did You Know..." section recently only to find my barrel fact had been removed, why is that? -Gentleman
- Sorry about that, we just need some proof that this is true since we've never heard this claimed before.--Wilsonator 15:53, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
